It can sometimes be tricky to be at the top of the search engines list but there are a few things that you can do to help your web page reach the top. One way of achieving this is by using your homepage to let Google know exactly what your site is about.

Your homepage is your opportunity to tell Google exactly what is on your page and what the site is really about. A lot of time if the website has a lot of information ranging from graphics and audio and visuals, it is hard for the search engine to determine what your page is about. Your fancy graphics and great designs are not what the search engine is looking at. But, this doesn't necessarily mean that you should leave it off your site. You just need to know what exactly they are looking for.

When you put well organized links on the homepage of your website, this is your way of communicating to Google about what your site is about. This way, when Google scans over your page, they will know what it is all about and eliminate the guessing games.

One important thing to remember when come up with a website is to put the most important information or key words and phrases at the very top of the site. This will make it easier for other search engines, besides Google, to know what is on your page and decide how relevant your site is to each search.

Sometimes they will just scan through the first paragraph of text on the page, looking for words and phrases that match the search.

When you are trying to get your site to be on the first page of Google or other search engines, it can be frustrating or seem impossible. But if you change a few things and use the tips that you learn, you can have your site frequently visited.

There are always a few things to keep in mind when you are creating a website for the first time, but if you remember to do the small and simple things, your success can be great.
