15 Ways To Make Money On The Internet

By Ben Needles

If I had time I could probably come up with over a hundred ways to make money on the Internet. Who knows, maybe even more than that. There certainly are many different ways to make money online today. Let’s take a look at 15 ways to make money on the Internet that anyone can do with a little bit of hard work.

1. Write and sell articles and get paid for them. There are webmasters willing to pay you for content if you are a good writer.

2. Start a blog of your own and monetize it with Google Adsense ads. Then write blog articles and submit them via social bookmarking.

3. Build an opt in list and sell products to it. Use an autoresponder to automate the process and make even more money with email marketing.

4. Join an affiliate program and sell products with your own affiliate website.

5. Use forum marketing and create a signature file with a link to your own money making website.

6. Get paid to post in forums for other webmasters. There are people willing to pay you to do this for them.

7. Get paid to post comments on other people’s blogs. Other bloggers like to do this because it creates valuable back links to blogs of their own and they are willing to pay you to do it for them because they do not have the time.

8. Set up your own consulting business. If you have an area of expertise there are people willing to pay you for your knowledge.

9. Sell banner advertising to your website if you have one that gets traffic.

10. Sell text link ads. Join Textlinkbrokers.com and let them sell the ads for you for a commission.

11. Set up auto responders and pre-program messages for people.

12. Create your own info products and sell them online.

13. Use private label right products and rework them to make them unique. Then sell them, keep 100% of the profits.

14. Build websites for people.

15. Become an Internet marketing broker. For example, rather than building a website, find the customers and sell the website building for a price to a sub contractor. The difference between what you are paid and what you pay your sub is your profit.

As we said there are many ways to make money on the Internet today. You are really only limited by your talent, and your imagination. The key is to get started doing something rather than just sitting by on the sidelines watching everyone else raking in all the profits.

The Golden Rules Of Selling To Your Opt-in List

By Yunis Khan

You’ve got your internet business and you have created an opt-in list. Now what?

Well, you have to encourage your list to buy from you. This is a lot harder than you may first imagine. There are series of books written on this subject and it really is an art. Many people have studied for years to perfect this, however I’m going to go through some very important rules to follow when you start selling to your list. Email is the preferred method to contact your list as it’s free and very effective.

Always remember the vast majority of people base their decision to buy on EMOTION. They then justify their purchase through LOGIC.

When selling to your list you must address both these factors in order to maximise the sales from your list. Over the last five years I have been involved in various internet businesses and I have found the following rules to be most effective.

Get your customers begging for more information:

You have to grab the attention of your list, you must create enough interest so that your list is begging for more information on your products.

Carry out some market research for yourself, register with various companies and see how they sell, see how they make their products "sizzle", this is sometimes referred to as "selling the sizzle" and can be very effective.

There are many ways to present your products and many promotional styles and methods. You have to grab your customers attention and get them to visit your site for more information and therefore buy your product. Content and creativity are the keys here, you are trying to lock in your customer to your marketing and therefore your products.

a) Keep your message simple, light and creative. Your customer does not want a long winded email with loads of facts and figure about your products and their performance. Keep it light hearted, your objective is to get your customer to read the email. We all live in a serious world, add a bit of humour or fun and it can pay off.

b) Add photos and splash some colour into your emails. Send out newsletters previewing your products, make them interesting, light hearted and eye catching. Grab your customers interest.

c) You must have good content and articles about your products. This will build trust between you and your customers. If necessary get a professional copy writer to do this for you in a style that is informative and light hearted, not stuffy. Outline the benefits of your products to your customers, do not talk about features, only benefits. Try not to be too keen here, people don’t like products being forced upon them, hold back a little, this often works.

d) A picture is worth a thousand words. If you do have clear and concise pictures of your products then use them! This coupled with clear concise benefits can work wonders.

Grab Your Readers Attention With Your Subject:

This is sometimes overlooked by new internet business owners. They don’t realise that just sending an email is not enough. In this day and age there are literally thousands of companies who market their products through opt-in lists via email. You have to realise that you are just one of the many companies vying for your customers attention.

Therefore it is imperative that you actually get your customer to open your email. To some this may sound rather a basic point. But do you realise that on average every 100 emails sent to an opt-in list, the average number of emails that are actually read is approx 30-40.

THE major factor in your customer opening your email is the subject heading in your email, that is why it is so important to get this right.

a) Try and keep the subject short and concise, it should ideally provide a summary of the content of your email. You need to grab the attention of your customer so that they are intrigued to open your email and read further. Tickle your customers curiosity, use emotion and selling words. Remember you only have a few seconds to grab your customers attention before they skip or delete your email.

b) A popular method is to indicate that your email will give your customer some sort of training or tips on certain subjects. You can do this by using phrases such as "Guide To ..." or "How To ..." or "Tips for ...". These are known to work well but your email content must reflect your subject heading.

c) Asking a question in the subject heading can also work well. Again you have to get emotional buy in, even from the subject heading. So questions like "Are you looking for financial freedom?" or "Have you had enough of working for someone?". These types of subject heading get your customers thinking straight away and are known to work well. Again always ensure your email content gives an answer to the question stated in the subject of your email.

d) New product announcements. This is perfect when previewing new products you are about to launch or make available to your customers. Headings like "Announcing great new ..." or "2 weeks before launch of ...". Again can be very effective given the product you are selling.

e) Issuing a command or directive. Statements such as "Act now ..." or "Limited opportunity apply now ..." or "Triple your income, find out how ...". Again you are emphasising the benefits of your products to your customers.

Things To Avoid When Emailing Your List:

Online and email marketing is very common and your customers will be bombarded with many internet companies vying for their money. It is important for you to avoid getting into problems with the law or your ISP or with spamming. However, if you have created your own opt-in list then you should be o.k. and not have to worry from these problems. However there are still some things to avoid.

Remember it can takes years to gain a good reputation and only a few minutes to destroy it.

a) Analyse your email broadcasts, take note of those that bounce, i.e. that are undeliverable. Also get some information on how many were opened. Erase all bounced email addresses. Some autoresponders such as Aweber do this for you. Manually check the email address for common mistakes, it may be that it is a simple spelling mistake which you can correct.

b) Always but always provide an unsubscribe option at the bottom of your emails. Aweber automatically does this as do most autoresponders. It may be that someone used another person’s email address so you need to give them an easy option to stop receiving your emails.

c) Do not send shocking or disturbing pictures or video, absolutely no pornographic content should be sent. You cannot be certain of the age of the person who has opted in to your list, therefore always keep your content respectable and above board. Always stick to the content of your site or your products.

Follow the above golden rules and you should be successful at marketing your products to your list and getting a favourable response. Remember, cultivating the relationship between yourself and your customers is key in establishing trust and thereby getting your customers to purchase from you.

What Is More Fun To A Shopper Than Picking Up Some Real Bargains?

By aman3118

You have to be living in a cave to not have heard of eBay. EBay calls itself the world’s marketplace, but I like to think of it as the largest garage sale in the world. Let’s call it a cyber garage sale. It is better than ordinary garage sales because you spend a whole lot less time and frustration looking at stuff you have no interest in. Speaking of garage sales, I have a friend who still frequents them, and she meets quite a few people at sales that mention to her that they are interested in eBay, but they still have not gotten around to buying or selling on eBay.

I understand that completely. For a long time, I browsed eBay, agog at the prices, but I just did not understand it, so I bought nothing. Then I had a friend who let me look over her shoulder as she showed me around on the eBay site and explained the basics of buying and selling. Even without the listings of things for sale, eBay is a huge website. There are pages upon pages of policies, rules, helpful resources for buyers, resources for sellers, and much more. In short it can take a long time to read and even longer to take action to buy or sell something for the very first time. That is why having a helpful friend with eBay experience is of great benefit.

What made me comfortable with buying on eBay was seeing the different screens on eBay (search, product description, seller’s feedback, etc.) and having my friend point out what was important. Sometimes what was important was information that was missing, such as the words “new” or “smoke-free.”

Once I understood how to find what I was searching for and once I understood about auctions and fixed price listings, I still needed to understand how to assess a seller’s feedback. Eighty percent may be an acceptable grade in school, but on eBay it is abysmal. As an eBay seller, my friend cared a great deal about her one-hundred percent positive feedback and keeping her customers happy, and I could see that. I gained an appreciation for what it means to be an eBay seller with several hundred feedbacks and a one-hundred percent score.

Not only did I get comfortable with eBay, I also started having fun. Recently I purchased a couple of new clothing items for less than half the price of one and that includes the shipping. What is more fun to a shopper than picking up some real bargains?

The Top 10 Internet Marketing Strategies

By Dan Brown

In order to be a successful Internet Marketer, there are ten Internet marketing strategies every marketer ought to be implementing into their business. Some you'll find more or less intriguing than others, but all ten are viable strategies for success...

1. Email Marketing

Publishing an email newsletter will keep you in regular contact with your subscribers. This will help you build a relationship with them and trust.

It doesn't have to be anything major. You can just offer tips and an article per each issue once a week or every other week.

2. Pay-per-Click Advertising

Pay-per-click allows you to drive traffic to your site immediately. You can start a campaign for a product and see how the market responds in just a few minutes!

This Internet Marketing strategy can be extremely costly if you're not careful to keep a close eye on your campaigns.

3. Article Marketing

Since the Internet will always be an excellent platform for research and knowledge, articles will always be in demand.

Promoting your business through your own articles is an incredible way to drive traffic to your site. People who go online are searching for information, and if you can provide quality information through writing articles, people will read them and want to know more about you.

4. Blogging

With your own blog you can post whatever you want to it on a regular basis, and allow your visitors to interact with a built-in comment tool. They can actually help you create content!

You can also integrate an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed, which will allow you to send updates from your blog to your readers automatically.

5. Podcasting

Since audio is more dynamic and capable of conveying emotions more effectively than text, you can get your message delivered in a more clear and concise way.

One of the biggest benefits of podcasting lies in the portability of it. Your visitors can take your audio content with them and listen to it at their convenience.

6. Video Marketing

Video is all the rage these days, and if you're not yet using it, you're missing out.

Youtube became one of the top 5 most visited web sites within a year of its birth. It seems everyone wants to be a star, and everyone seems curious about the videos others are creating.

Google knows how powerful all this is - They bought YouTube for 1.6 billion in 2006. I believe video marketing is a powerful tool and every Internet Marketer ought to be using it!

7. Social Bookmarking

With so much content available on the web, it's impossible to sort through it all. The search engines try to manage it, but the space is limited to only ten results on the first page.

The idea behind social bookmarking is to get your visitors to vote for your content so other people who are interested in the same information can find it too. All this can result in more traffic to your site.

8. Social Networking

Social networking sites provide an excellent way for like-minded people to meet with each other online and share content.

Your online information will turn viral when it reaches the right people!

9. Affiliate Marketing

If you've created your own product, you can establish an affiliate program and invite others to join and share revenue after they make a sale or drive a lead your way.

Since no business can reach every potential customer, affiliate marketing is a way for you to reach more customers with a team of salespeople around the world all promoting your product, and only paying them if they bring sales.

10. Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is the process of tweaking your content and keywords in order to get quality ranking from the search engines.

Since it takes considerable time to position your web pages on top search engine listings, and the rules are always changing, I advise any Internet Marketer not to invest a whole lot of time in SEO these days. Some may disagree, but I think your time ought to be invested where you have more control.

Still, search engine optimization should not be ignored, just less priority given to it. If you're in the planning phase of building a site, you still want to integrate keyword research and optimization of your pages.

Conclusion

In this day and age, these ten Internet marketing strategies are the best ways to go about achieving success in your chosen niche. You'll find that you're probably more inclined to use some over the others, but give the others a try. You may find a new groove.

How Does Successful Article Marketing Work?

By David Ogden

Article marketing has proven itself to be one of the most successful ways to market your internet business online. There are a few misconceptions about article marketing, so in this article let's take a look at what you should be doing to successfully use this advertising medium.

One of the first things you have to decide is are you writing for search engines, or for your readers. This has become more important as more content takes up valuable real estate on the Internet today.

Search engines are looking to avoid duplicate content, yet there are literally thousands of article directories all with the same articles in them.

So how do you do this?

If you're writing specifically for your readers, then it really is irrelevant how many article directories contain the same article. As a matter of fact, it is to your benefit to have your articles in as many places as possible.

If you are writing for search engines, then you're really looking for your content to be unique no matter where it's placed. A search engine is really only going to place one of your articles around a keyword phrase one time.

It is not to their benefit to have several article directories on page 1 of the same phrase that all contain the exact same article that you've written. Therefore from a search engine benefit is to your benefit to alter the content before you submit it to individual article directories.

There is a company known as Submityourarticle.com that offers a very unique program called Article Leverage. With them you can write one article, and then turn it into hundreds of unique versions by rewriting it and letting their software create unique articles.

They then submit these to hundreds of article directories, all of which are getting a unique version of it. This is really a win-win situation because you stand a great chance of getting ranked on various search engines, as well as being accepted by multiple article directories for writing just one article.

If you choose to just go after traffic from readers, you may want to consider writing as many articles as possible on a daily basis and submitting them to a handful of your favorite directories. You might even go so far as to just target one article directory such as EzineArticles.com, where they will accept shorter articles of 250 words.

Regardless of how you choose to do it, successful article marketing does work. You just need to come up with a system that you can do on a consistent basis.

The "Duplicate Content" Controversy

By Lisa Lutz

The hoopla over duplicate content has been going on for quite some time now, and I see it as simply just another money making scheme by online entrepreneurs wishing to chase down the Golden Goose. Almost every day, my inbox is inundated with yet another "article converter" that is guaranteed to make my private label rights articles hit the top of the search engines with no fear of the Google Police knocking at my PR door, screaming "Duplicate Content!"

I ofttimes wonder how many of the so called gurus take the time to really read the Google Adsense Program Policies. And I wonder many times during my working day just how many people open their wallets to let fly their hard earned dollars to these people.

Here are Google's exact words, and I quote: "Do not create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content." What does this really tell us? Does it tell us that the PLR sites that sell thousands of the same articles to people who don't have time - or are too lazy - to write their own content are breaking Google's rules? Not hardly. Google is telling us that we cannot create what used to be called "mirror sites" (This is a Web site which contains the same information that is located on another site. If the site abc.com is the same as def.com, then it may be disqualified from listing by search engines) in an attempt to increase Page Rank and increase Adsense income.

Many opinions abound on the forums and elsewhere on the web discussing duplicate content. And many netrepeneurs have taken advantage of the misinterpretation of Google's policies to capitalize on this. Because Google has made this the era of content, everyone that is involved in the online communities is scrambling for the proper answers. I see threads that are three to five pages in length on the more popular forums with people agonizing over their fear of duplicate content. What a field day for the guru's! I wonder how many thousands - perhaps millions - have been made by people taking advantage of this fear factor?

Lets examine the facts. If there really was a duplicate content filter then many news web sites that publish AP or Reuters news would be banned from search engines. Many catalogue sites would go under, because they sell the same products, using the same promotional items as other sites. Affiliate sites would be banned from the search engines because people use the promotional items provided by the site owners. And even the giant eBay would go under, because anyone who has spent time there sees a ton of items listed which are identical, using the same description, same images, and same user ID. I wonder how Copyscape.com would handle this?

What about the sites that put articles and ezines in archive. This content ends up being displayed both in static pages and archives as well. Penalized for duplicate content, when the website owner wants to have his articles available to the general public? I doubt it...

Common sense is the order of the day. If you take the time to provide original and unique content to your site, the site is well optimized for the search engines, and you have relevant backlinks, then your site will do well with no fear of penalty.

Don't use article scrapers, which mirror the exact content of other sites, and is nothing more than a rip off. If you buy PLR articles, try to rewrite them in your own unique voice. If your budget will allow, hire a ghostwriter to create articles pertinent to your particular niche. And most of all, just use plain common sense.

What You Can Do To Have Success With Affiliate Marketing

By Geoffrey Hadley

Internet marketing has blown up in the past few years with more and more people looking to work from home. There are thousands of opportunities and ways to make money online, including affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing has been around for quite some time and continues to hold strong. But have you had success with it?

Millions of people try affiliate marketing at some point in time, but many quit after a few weeks of no success. Just as with any home business, you have to be patient and give it time. But there are some things you can do to set yourself up for success.

The first tip to have success is finding a program that you are interested in. The great thing about internet marketing is that there are so many opportunities available, giving you the chance to find something you enjoy. Everything is much easier if you have passion in it because you will be more willing to put in the extra hours to promote the program.

Next, find a program that is correlated to your website in some way. It is extremely difficult to have success with affiliate marketing if your affiliate links of gardening sites are on your car website. Take the time to find a program that is related to your site and will benefit you. It will take a load off your back if you can offer your visitors what they are looking for.

The fact that there is thousands of affiliate programs to choose from allows you to look for programs that pay well. You want to find a program that is related to your website and pays at least 35% to 40% residual income. There are some programs that pay as high as 70%, but 40% residual income will allow you to make a decent amount of money. There is no sense in placing a link on your site that pays nothing.

Lastly, make sure there is a way for you to view your statistics. Statistics say everything when it comes to the king of success you are having. Every affiliate program should have some kind of page that allows you to look at your statistics while you are working for them 24 hours a day. The internet never sleeps, so why should your affiliate program?

There is great potential for affiliate marketing if you take the time to find a legitimate program. Accommodating an affiliate program with your home business is a great way to branch out and income flowing in multiple directions. If you follow the tips listed above, you can have success with affiliate marketing.

3 Ways to Change Your Mindset for Internet Marketing Success

By Dan Brown

If you say you can, or if you say you cannot do something, you are absolutely correct either way. Most everything that has to do with Internet Marketing is a state of mind. Just like being able to write articles is a state of mind, making YouTube videos is also a state of mind.

Changing your mindset is absolutely necessary in order to begin producing big profits in your business, and it's very simple. Here are three things you can do right now....

1. Think in a positive light

This one is obvious but the most difficult, because it has become such a habit. You may not even realize how negative you are! The best way to become more positive is to make yourself accountable to someone you trust. Tell them you want them to let you know the next time you say something negative, or when you say you cannot do something.

2. Change your associations

Remember, I just said make yourself accountable to someone you trust? Do you have someone in your life like that? If not, you definitely need some better friends.

Here's the facts.. In the next five years you will be the sum total of the people you associate with. You have to decide who you have to cut off in order to move ahead with your life. I know that sounds harsh, but you can still love them from a distance. Now, find some people who can inspire you. Whether you find them in books or in Internet Marketing forums, it doesn't matter. Just get around some positive. You have to surround yourself with winners to create positive changes in your life.

3. Repeat affirmations to yourself

Think of a list of positive things you can say to yourself everyday. For example:

  • I choose to apply myself to learning everyday
  • I'm getting better and better everyday
  • Things are coming together for me

Be careful of saying things like:

  • I'm wealthy (when you're broke)
  • I'm an Internet Marketing guru (when you're not)
  • or anything else you simply cannot believe right now!

You've got to tell yourself things your mind can grab a hold of in the moment!

Conclusion

You cannot change what you don't acknowledge, so think about your business and take ownership for where you are. Be honest and say, "Everything I have said and done until now has placed me exactly where I am." Once you've owned up to it you'll experience a type of freedom that can propel you on to great success!

What Are Your Web Statistics Telling You?

By Jerry Work

You need to pay close attention to what your Web site statistics are telling you. There are pieces to a story buried in your data. The more you dig, the more of that story you will learn. For example, here are some of the types of things you can learn:

What keywords are profitable? This is especially relevant when using paid search. With paid search, you can know exactly what your return on investment is for individual keywords. If you are strictly looking at natural search, you can examine the funnel that resulted in people filling out your form. For example, what search engine and keyword did people who filled out your contact form use?

Is there anything that is particularly ineffective? For example, if you see that you have lots of content campaign links with a very high bounce rate, then that is a strong clue that it is a poor use of your marketing dollars.

What are the pages on your site where people most often leave? These pages may need improvement, or they may need some way to capture the user's email address before he leaves.

What non-paid keywords are people using to find your site? These might be good candidates to include in a paid search campaign.

What paid keywords are people using to find your site? These might be good candidates for natural search optimization.

What is your average bounce rate? If it is very high, then that is a sign that your site needs work on content, design, or both. It needs to be more "sticky" so that people hang around.

Where does your traffic come from? If you spot some particular trends related to the location or demographic profile of your web site traffic, then that will give you good information as to areas you should be exploring further.

These are just a few examples of the things you can learn from an examination of your web site statistics. The more you know, the better you can fine tune your site for best performance.

If you don't have analytics scripts running on your site, get them installed today! There are many, many options for what analytics to run on your site that range in price from free to thousands of dollars per month.

At the high end, the best solution is probably Omniture SiteCatalyst. In a former job with a home shopping network, we used SiteCatalyst and it was phenomenal. It provides outstanding drilldown capabilities and will tell you everything you need to know in an easily digestible format. It's also probably more than you can afford.

On a more affordable scale, I suggest you just go with Google Analytics. A few years ago, Google bought a company called Urchin and changed the name of their analytics product to Google Analytics. They also made the product free.

There are some who worry about the ramifications of making so much information related to their web site accessible to the goons at Google. But my opinion is that I am much more concerned about maximizing my profit today than about what Google might do months or years from now. So if you're on a budget, go with Google Analytics.

Most People Never Make Money on the Internet

By Ben Needles

With the many opportunities available on the Internet it would seem reasonable to think that most people trying to make money do so. However, the opposite is exactly true. Most people never make money on the Internet for several different reasons.

1. They do not work hard enough. This can be a reflection on their life in general, and they may not be successful in their current job either. Because there are billions of websites on the Internet, all competing for the attention of millions of searchers, you have to work hard to get traffic to your website.

2. They do not learn the skills necessary. None of us are born into our Internet marketing success. You at least must master a couple of skills if you expect to make money on the Internet. These generally involve advertising and follow-up. The most successful Internet marketers get a lot of traffic to a money making website, and then they follow up for future sales.

3. They do not have any money to make money. Making money online can be started without any upfront capital. For example you could join an affiliate marketing program and start your business for free. The problem is that it is much harder to do everything on a zero budget. This does require an almost superhuman effort, therefore, most people quit because they are never making any money.

4. Another thing we want to mention is most people never make money on the Internet because they put all their eggs in one basket. Again we will use the affiliate marketing industry as an example. There are way too many people trying to make all their money on one website. This doesn’t work because you need to develop multiple streams of income by having multiple websites in various niches, to really make Money on the Internet.

5. The final thing we want to say is that even if you never approach Internet marketing as a business you can still make money on it. For example, there are people who earn a few hundred dollars a month taking online surveys.

This is not glamorous work, but it does allow these people to stay home and make money sitting in front of their computer offering their opinion on things. But again, this requires work and most people will give up and quit having never made any money.

In summary, most people never make money on the Internet because of one or all of the above reasons. That does not have to describe you, and hopefully you will get busy and start making money today.

5 Mistakes Ebay Members Make

By Bobby 1234

If you do not know how to identify fraudulent auctions then you will be a victim. The only question is when.

Over 44% of all Internet fraud complaints are about auctions according to the FBI's joint Internet crime center. What is even worse is that according to Michael Ford, President of Elite Minds and eBay safety expert, "…almost every one of these complaints could have been avoided. Yes, I am saying that almost every fraudulent eBay auction can be avoided."

The biggest problem new members on eBay face is a lack of information. They are able to join and be scammed in under 20 minutes without realizing it. New members do not know how the system works and professional criminals take advantage of this by leading them into well planned con games where the new member loses their money and possibly becomes a victim of identity theft.

New members should never:

  1. Pay by a means that does not have buyer protection.
  2. Focus on a great bargain while losing touch with reality.
  3. Click links or run Trojan programs sent by email.
  4. Bid without knowing how to check a seller's history.
  5. Join eBay and immediately try to buy or sell anything.
New members frequently do not have a PayPal account to make payments and they may actually prefer to deal with someone who requests payment by check or money order because those are payment methods they understand. PayPal and Credit Cards give the most buyer protection. Scammers often request payments by Western Union, Bank Transfer, check or money order because they can run off with the money and never ship anything. New members should only pay by PayPal or Credit Card.

New members join eBay and find a great deal on something they want. Then they are afraid of losing that great bargain. The fear of loss takes over and they will do foolish things that they would never normally do to avoid losing their perceived bargain. Criminals often sell items just to obtain information from buyers. The crooks offer items they may not even have and then use the auction as an excuse to collect information from the buyer including name, address, credit card number, and even social security number. You should never have to give any information to a seller other than your name and address so they can ship your goods.

If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Criminals often list popular items like vehicles, electronics, and laptops at too-good-to-be-true prices hoping to snare new members who do not know better. Never focus on a good deal ahead of good judgment.

Crooks prey on fear and confusion. They will send fake email messages claiming your eBay or PayPal account has been compromised or there is some other problem and you must click a link to login. The link then takes the unwary member to a spoof or look-alike website that looks like eBay or PayPal but was actually setup by the crook. When the member enters their password, the crook then logs into their account to abuse it. Scammers will also send programs containing Trojan software which they claim is a form that must be filled out before the order is shipped. When the buyer runs the software, the criminal can take remote control of their computer and use it to send spam or steal the person's password.

Neither new members or experienced members, should ever click any link in any email no matter where the email appears to be from.

Free software can prevent account hijacking. There is a free toolbar at MyLittleMole.com which will alert you if you are tricked into going to a look-alike eBay, PayPal, banking, or most other websites. It will also warn you if you go to any of thousands of known fraud or spam websites. If every eBay member used this software, account hijacking would be a thing of the past.

New buyers do not understand what the feedback numbers mean. Even experienced members rarely know how to truly read feedback and assume that a positive feedback rating is good. It is often not good. The Auction Inquisitor Auction Analysis software from AuctionInquisitor.com will analyze auctions and seller feedback to report common signs of fraud in an auction. This software allows eBay members to spot fraudulent auctions before they bid.

By far, the biggest problem new members face is immediately trying to buy or sell. They act before they understand how bids work or how payments are made. New users and even users who believe they are experienced need more education than they have in order to trade safely on eBay.

It is possible to buy and sell safely on eBay but only if you know how scams work so you can avoid them.

The Secrets of Web Design

By Jordan McPelt

There is no way around it: if you have a website for personal or business use, you need to learn the basics of web design in order to find an appealing scheme that will attract visitors to your website rather than drive them away. The secret to the success of your website depends on the way you have designed your site.

The first and foremost thing you will want to do in order to have a clean looking design is to ditch those elementary page counters. If you need to track the statistics of your website, find a host that will give you this information easily and quickly. They will probably also have more detailed information for you rather than just what a simple page counter can give you. Most of the time, page counters are seen as tacky. No customer will care how many people are visiting your site. They only care about what your site can provide for them.

If you want to get the attention of potential customers, it is a good idea to have a good web design and a quality product or service to sell. Do not try to bring people into your site with blinking pictures and flashing text. This will only make you look desperate to attract attention. Many people realize after looking at a lot of websites that the sites that use these gimmicks probably are not selling a quality product. They put more of an effort into getting people to their site rather than providing their customers with what they need.

Another thing that will annoy your potential customers is making them install a different browser or plug-in to view parts or all of your site. Try to keep your site as simple as possible. If you want to use multimedia to present your product or service, you can but put it in a format that most people can access without having to download anything beforehand.

You will also want to make your website make sense to the people who are viewing it. Make sure your titles are clear and they describe exactly what you are selling or representing. If you make your page titles unclear, potential customers can be turned away because they think that you are using misleading tactics in order to get them to stay on your site.

In the same vein, do not try to use cheap tricks in order to fool the search engines to bring up your page more often. Just because your site now falls at the top of the list for a specific keyword, that does not mean you will get any more business. In fact, once people are fooled by your trick, they will be less likely to be fooled again. Try to be as honest as possible when making a good website design.

Web design is not a tricky subject. It just takes a little time to learn what tactics work and which ones will drive your customers right out the door. Be honest, make it simple, and you will have a successful website for your online business.

You Think Like an eBay PowerSeller

By razia khanam1

So what’s a PowerSeller? PowerSellers are the people on eBay who’ve made it, recognizable by the little ‘PowerSeller’ badge next to their name. You’ve probably seen these people around – and to succeed on eBay, you want to think the way they do.

How do People Get the Right to Call Themselves PowerSellers?

eBay gets to decide who can be a PowerSeller and who can’t, and they have strict requirements. To get in at the minimum PowerSeller level, you must have a feedback rating of at least 100 (minimum 98% positive) and sell at least $1,000 worth of items every month for three months in a row. There are different levels of PowerSeller membership as you sell items of greater value: $1,000 total is bronze, $3,000 is silver, $10,000 is gold, $25,000 is platinum and $125,000 is titanium.

If PowerSellers ever fail to meet the required amount of sales, or their feedback falls below 98% positive, then they lose their PowerSeller status. In short, the only people who get to be PowerSellers on eBay are the people who have been successful for a good while, and are on track to stay that way.

The Shop and the Marketplace

This is the most important part of understanding how PowerSellers think. They don’t see what they’re doing as being some random bazaar or a hobby – instead, they see themselves as a business.

Put it like this. If you run a stall in a marketplace, the chances are that you have a general area of business, but you mostly just sell whatever you can get your hands on that week. If your dodgy buddy got his hands of a job lot of something at a discount, then that’s what you’ll be selling. This might be fun – and when you have a good week, you’ll have a really good week – but it’s no way to run a real business in the long-term.

PowerSellers think far more like shops. They sell the same things again and again, every week – regular stock for regular customers. They do ‘boring’ business things like keep inventories and budgets. They know what they’re going to be selling, how much they buy it for and how much they expect to sell for. Just like a real shop, there can be hard times sometimes, but their income is stable and their business can grow slowly.

The best advice I can give you on thinking like a PowerSeller is this: don’t take long-term risks for short-term gain. Look after your reputation, manage your selling properly, provide good customer service and the rewards will come to you in due course. And you’ll get a little badge next to your name that makes people trust you more!

One possibility that you might have realized so far is what eBay can do for any other businesses you might have. Remember, millions of people visit eBay every day – why keep everything separate when you’re starting to tap into that kind of power?
