Don't Be Intimidated By Ebay

You have lots of things you want to sell on eBay. You have so much stuff around your house, you literally trip over it wherever you walk. So why aren't you on eBay selling those items?

If you have never sold on eBay before, you are probably thinking that it is too hard and too complicated to do. You may think you need to be a computer wiz to be able to set up items to sell. You are afraid, and think what if I make a mistake.

The best way to learn how to sell on eBay is to just start doing it. What is the worst that could happen. Only two things, either your item doesn't sell, or your item sells for a small amount of money. If either of those things happen, so what! If you are getting rid of stuff around the house, do you really care what it sells for? You were going to throw it out anyway.

That's how I learned to sell on eBay. I just started selling. I went to eBay, read the directions they had on how to sell stuff, followed those directions and set up some auctions. Guess what? I sold some stuff. Boy, was I proud of myself.

Now I can't tell you that my first auction was my best. I can't say that my first auction listing was the best looking listing. But I managed to do it. I kept at it, and as I did more and more, I got better and better. The more I set up auctions, the better I got at it. The more I set up auctions, the better they looked. The more I set up auctions, the higher my selling price became. The more I did it, the better I got.

I am an eBay expert now. I teach how to sell ebooks on eBay. In fact, I even set up eBay businesses for lots of people who want to start an eBay business.

My success still goes all the way back to when I put up for auction my very first item. If I had not made up my mind to do it, and then taken the action to just start selling, I would not be where I am today. Had I been afraid of making a mistake, if I had waited because I really didn't know enough to set up an auction, I would never have learned.

I am no different than you. I didn't know how to sell on eBay when I started. But I learned. You certainly can do the same thing I did. Now there are more guides, ebooks, courses, etc out there that will teach you how to set up auctions and sell on eBay, my course and ebook systems included. You have an advantage over when I started. But in the end, no matter how much guidance you get, you still have to do it.

There is no substitute for experience. There is no better way of learning how to sell on eBay than actually selling on eBay. Information on how to do it is very helpful and will make it easy for you to succeed. But to really succeed, to really be able to sell on eBay you have to do it. JUST DO IT!

Social Networking Sell Yourself Not Your Stuff

I'm sure at some point there was a time and a place for the hard sell. I'm sure that just throwing your products and services out there right in front of everyone worked for some, at some point in time. This is not the time.

With the explosion of web 2.0, and using social networking to increase your traffic and sales the tables have turned. Now you have to sell yourself, not your stuff.

Social networking websites were made for just that, socializing and networking. They were introduced to give people a way to connect with other like-minded people. They are great for that purpose, and marketers, if they are smart, recognize the potential for almost limitless traffic. However, what savvy marketers realize is you have to go into social networking websites as a person not a business. People are there to meet and connect with other people, not be sold stuff.

That's not to say you can't make sales using social networking sites, on the contrary, it is an excellent way to market just about anything, and for free. The key to being successful in this endeavor is to just be yourself.

When you set up a page at anyone of the large social networks, whether it's Myspace, Facebook, or Powerful Intentions, you have to be a person. Let people know who you are, and what you are about. You will naturally attract people that you have things in common with. Once you have a common bond it is easy to get into conversation, and from that conversation may come friendship or even partnership.

I once wanted to know a little more about a person I had seen make a post on a forum. The person's answer was intelligent and she sounded like we may have had a lot in common. I went to her homepage and the only thing I saw, for a really long homepage was Company This and Company That. I did not learn one thing about the person. Even if I was looking for a company to join or a product to use, I can guarantee I wouldn't have gotten it from her. I have no idea who she is.

In this day in age, you can find out anything you want about a company or a product. That is what a company website is for. What I want to know is WHO do I want to partner with in this company. That's where your social networking pages are amazing. People can find out all about who you are. Most people that go online looking to join a company already know what company or what type of company they are looking for. What they are looking for is the right person to get involved with. If you don't tell them who you are, they won't know if you are just the person they have been looking for.

Of course you want people to know that you are in a company or you have a product or service to offer, that's part of who you are. Put an ad somewhere on your page that will send them to a website where they can find out more about that aspect of you. If they make the choice to click on your ad, they may find what you are doing to be a perfect match for them. Then they contact you and you've made the sale, or gotten your next rep, with no work on your part.

Allow people to get to know you, then allow them to make the choice if they want more information about what you are doing or selling. You will find if you can allow people to make their own decisions in this manner you will have only qualified, presold leads contacting you.

Start With The Lowest Bid Possible And Avoid Reserve Bids

Many sellers are terrified of starting their auctions at $.01 and not having a reserve price. They are afraid that if they do this then the item that they're selling will sell for less than its worth.

First of all, an auction is capitalism at its best. Whoever is willing to pay the most gets the item. Basically, whatever the highest bid ends up being IS what the item is worth.

Of course, if you have read the rest of this article then you'd know that there are many things that you can do to receive higher bids on your auction like adding photos and writing a great description.

However, the Powersellers that I spoke with all told me that they begin 99% of their auctions at $.01 with no reserve; the rare exception being extremely expensive items that they have never sold before.

You see, one Powerseller that I interviewed told me about a little experiment that he conducted on several occasions.

Basically, what he did was place identical items up for auction which he knew that he normally had sold for $300 (with a starting bid of $9.99) in the past, placed them in the same categories and began and ended them at the exact same times.

The only difference between the two auctions was that one auction he began at $.01 and the other he began at $25. In fact, if one searched for the particular item that he was selling, these two auctions would show up right next to each other.

At the end of the auction, the one that began at $.01 had received 63 bids and ended with a winning bid of $343. That's $43 more than he had ever made off a previous sale. The auction that began at $25 ended with only 43 bids and a final price of $287 for a difference of $56! Remember that everything was exactly the same except for the starting bid price. Why does this happen? It's pretty simple really.

First of all, you'll receive bids from a larger number of unique bidders and remember that every time someone is outbid, they receive a notice that they have been outbid. In affect, eBay is promoting your item for you even more.

Second, more bids draw more bidders. Ask yourself this: when you are scrolling through eBay listings, what catches your eye more: an auction with 3-4 bids or an auction with 20. Some people claim that it doesn't make a difference but the numbers prove otherwise. Bids beget more bids.

Finally, people always want to "win!" You know, when you go to Wal-Mart and buy something, they don't say "You Won!" do they? Of course not! But on eBay, you're the "winning bidder!" The more people that you draw into your auction then the more people you will have wanting to win.

Don't be scared! Always start your auction at $.01 and "no reserve." This option always makes more money. But there is one exception to this rule: don't do it when you are just beginning to sell an extremely expensive item that you have to put a lot of your money on the line.

For example, when I first started selling sporting tickets on eBay, I really had no idea what I was doing or how to effectively list an item. But once I figured that out, it really didn't matter how much I bought the tickets for because when I listed them at $.01 and no reserve, I made about 18% more per sale!

Special note: if you have no reserve on your auction, always put "no reserve" (minus the quotes) in your auction title or, if you don't have enough space for that, then put "nr" in the title. Do this because many people are opposed to auction with reserves and so they will always search for their keyword plus "no reserve" or "nr" and if your title doesn't have these keywords then they won't see it.

Well, that's it! Armed with these secret eBay strategies, you too should be well on your way to making a very substantial income on eBay. The Many Faces, And Auction Styles, Of Ebay

Over the years, eBay has introduced all sorts of different auction types, in an effort to give people more options when they buy and sell their things on eBay.

For every seller who doesn't like the idea that their item might sell for a far lower price than they intend, there's another who wants to shift hundreds of the same item quickly. eBay tries to cater to all tastes. This article gives you an overview of the different kinds of auctions and their advantages for you.

Normal Auctions

These are the bread-and-butter of eBay, the auctions everyone knows: buyers bid, others outbid them, they bid again, and the winner gets the item. Simple.

Reserve Auctions

Reserve auctions are for sellers who don't want their items to sell for less than a certain price - a concept you'll know about if you're familiar with real auctions. They work just like normal auctions on eBay, except that the buyer will be told if their bid does not meet the reserve price you set, and they'll need to bid again if they want the item. If no-one is willing to meet your price, then the auction is cancelled, and you keep the item.

Fixed Price ('Buy it Now') Auctions

Buy it Now auctions can work in one of two ways. You can add a Buy it Now button to a normal auction, meaning that buyers can choose either to bid normally or to simply pay the asking price and avoid the whole bidding process. Some sellers, though, now cut out the auction process altogether and simply list all their items at fixed price. This lets you avoid all the complications of the auction format and simply list your items for how much you want them to sell for.

Recently, eBay added a twist to fixed price auctions: the 'best offer'. This means that buyers can contact you to negotiate a price, which could be a good way to sell some extra stock at a small discount. The only downside to reserve and fixed price auctions is that you pay a small extra fee to use these formats. In general, it is more worth using reserve auctions for higher-priced items and fixed price auctions for lower-priced ones - but remember that you can combine the two formats.

Multiple Item ('Dutch') Auctions

These are auctions where you can sell more than one of a certain item. Dutch auctions can be done by bidding. Buyers bid a price and say how many items they want, and then everyone pays the lowest price that was bid by one of the winning bidders. If you have trouble getting your head around that, then don't worry - everyone else does too! These auctions are very rare.

What is more common is when a seller has a lot of one item, and lists it using a combination of two auction types: a multiple-item fixed price auction. This just means that you can just say how many of the item you have, and offer them at a fixed price per unit. Buyers can enter how many they want and then just click Buy it Now to get them.

Now that you know about the different types of auctions, you should make sure that the items you plan to sell don't violate eBay's listing policies.

4 Ways To Drive Targeted Traffic To Promote Your Affiliate Products

Traffic is essential if you want to make money online with affiliate marketing. However, not all traffic is good when you are promoting an affiliate product. You need to drive targeted traffic so as to increase your sales conversion rate. So what do I mean by targeted traffic?

For example, if you are an affiliate of an online florist which sells flowers in Singapore. You decide to use Google Adwords to start driving traffic to your landing page. However, not all keywords related to flowers will be useful. People typing in "Singapore Flower" may wish to know the flower that represents Singapore. On the other hand, people typing in "Online Florists Singapore" will be more likely to buy flowers online. So even though there will be people clicking through your ads that bid on the keyword "Singapore Flower", they may not be the targeted traffic that you are looking for.

Now, let me share with you 4 ways whereby you can start driving targeted traffic to promote your affiliate products:

1. Google Adwords
Google Adwords allows you to place advertisements on Google, by bidding on selected keywords or key phrases that you think your target consumers may type as search queries. If you bid on the keyword "online florist", when searchers type in "online florist" in Google, your advertisement will appear on the right hand side of the search result page of Google. Adwords can be the most effective way to drive targeted traffic to promote affiliate products, as long as you choose the right keywords to bid on.

2. Write articles
When you write articles about the topic that is related to the product that you are promoting, you are attracting readers who are interested in that subject to read your articles. If they like your content, they will visit the link in your Author Resource Box and find out more about the product that you are promoting.

3. Create a blog
You should create a blog with information related to the industry that you are in. For example, if you are into the forex niche, you can set up a blog and share your knowledge on forex with your readers. If you provide quality content and your readers start to trust your expertise, they will be more receptive to any forex products that you are promoting to them through your blog.

4. Forum marketing
This is another great way to drive traffic and promote affiliate products. However, do not ever think of registering to a forum and start posting a thread to promote your products directly. This is called forum spamming. You will not get any affiliate sale from this. Instead, join a forum that is related to the product or industry that you are in, and start to contribute valuable pointers to the forum. As your reputation starts to gain in the forum, members will visit the link that you place in your signature and you are now driving valuable traffic to your website.

To Hire A Web Developer - How?

Today, most businesses want a website. Some already have one. Others want one. They don't want to hire IT staff and probably can't afford any. And in most cases, an in-house IT staff, especially for your typical small business, just isn't necessary. But, that doesn't mean that you have to go without or will be forced to use some cookie-cutter website or a personal FrontPage experiment gone awry. You can hire a web developer / designer to create a professional website for you, set it up, and then hand it over to you for you to do what you want with it. But, how should you go about finding someone to do this? What should you look for? There are literally thousands of companies / individuals out there offering to do your website. How do you pick from this large group?

What Do You Want?

The first step is to decide exactly what you want on your website. This is very important as it will determine what the requirements are and, in turn, what skill set your web developer needs to fulfill your needs. Here are some questions to ask of yourself:

* what kinds of information do you want to have on your site? Approximately how large do you envision the site (# of pages)?

* Will your site require regular updates? Do you want to do these updates yourself?

* Will you be engaging in e-commerce on this website?

* Will you need a database?

* How fast do you need the job done?

* What is your budget?

Start Your Search

Doing a web search for someone that has the skills you will need for your website will still give you a humongous list of possible choices. Referrals are often the best method of weeding people out. If someone recommends a developer, it is because they are happy with the service they were provided. So, if someone recommends a developer to you, you should check that developer out and see if they have the skills you will need from them.

Often, the developers you are pondering are not located in your town. In today's day and age, this is not usually a problem. Yes, there are instances where a face-to-face meeting is really beneficial, and if you are the kind of really considers this meeting important, you should limit your search to developers within driving distance of your location. Otherwise, the internet and phone system provide all the communication you will need, regardless of distance.

The first thing to do when considering a developer is to check out their website.

* Is the site well-designed and attractive?

* Is it easy to navigate?

* Are there any broken links?

* Is the information complete (introduction to staff, company location, contact methods, etc.)?

* Does the site load quickly?

* Is there a portfolio? (Very important. A developer without a portfolio to display is a total question mark. You simply don't know if the people are good or are snacking on Doritos trying to figure things out as they go).

* What skills does the developer have? Do they do design only, or can they do dynamic web development and database design? Also, ensure that they do not advertise themselves as a web designer but focus mainly on print media. Internet design and print design are different ballparks with different requirements. Also, keep in mind that good use of Dreamweaver or FrontPage does not in itself make a web designer. Check their portfolio and ensure the developer really knows his stuff. A person well-versed in internet development should know not only about creating the site, but also maintaining it, marketing it, and promoting it. Ideally, a web developer has successfully done all of the above on his own sites.

* Does the site offer customer testimonials? Read them. And, you might even contact those clients independently to ask them questions of the service you were provided.

Small Freelancers vs. Big Firms

You need to decide if you want to work with a large design firm or a small freelance company (or even single developer). There is more security for the client when working with a larger firm. The skills they offer vary widely because their staff is so large, and they often have a very large portfolio. The caveat, though, is that large companies often charge more money. The overhead costs for such companies are larger, so they will charge more. Additionally, larger companies often come with more beauracracy. With so many developers, often communication is just not what it should be, leading to inconsistencies in the project due to miscommunication. Also, sometimes you will find that these companies pay a little too much attention to process rather than simply getting the job done.

Freelance developers offer better value for the money, and because they are a single person, the communication flow between them and the client are usually much better (one-on-one). If there is a staff, usually the size is small, meaning communication will still be more tight-knit. This will lead to more consistent coding and coordination. Also, you know who is responsible for your project and there is more accountability. In larger firms, nobody is responsible in some cases. (Or so they say). The downside of freelancing is that their skill set is their skill set, and if you need something that they don't know how to do, they must research it. Also, freelancers are limited by their size. If they already have a high workload, then their throughout is limited and it may force you to wait. So, depending on the size of your project, a large firm might guarantee the job gets done quickly.

Rates and Guidelines

Check out the rates of the developer. Often, you will not find the rates directly posted on their website. This is usually because they like to do things by estimate, so simply contact them, give them a few specs, and go back and forth until you get a ballpark figure. When getting an estimate, make sure it is detailed and exact. Ask any questions that you have. If you think the price is too high, ask them about it. Don't be afraid to counter-offer. They can always refuse.

Check out the developer's contract. Make sure the client is protected. Pay attention to guarantees of response time. You want to make sure your developer is available for you. Also, look for their policy on project changes. Obviously, you cannot alter the specs of your project once an estimate is agreed upon without expecting additional fees. Ask them about this. Also, inspect the contract for warranty of work. Who will they handle bugs in the work they have done?

Talk With Them

Any developer you consider should have a method of being reached by phone. Call them and gauge their personality. Make sure they are good people who you can talk with and bounce ideas off of. See if they treat you right or act like they barely have time for you. Good communication is very important to a successful project, and if you can't properly communicate to your developer, you should not hire him / her.

Evaluate

Evaluate your potential developers using the advice above and you will be more likely to have successfully completed project with minimal frustration.

Want An Easy And Low Cost Way To Make Money Online? Write eCourses

One of the lessons I learnt from being on the internet is the fact that it doesn't have to take much to make money. I had been spending my time trying to develop high ticket products that no one wanted but I hoped would sell for close to a thousand dollars. The learning system I gained access to also provided me with a structure that showed me how to put together information with ongoing value to those who signed up, which is extremely important. It took me about 10 days to put together my first free eCourse because I had never done it before and by the time I was writing my fourth one it was only taking me a few days. Now within 48 hours I can have an ecourse up and ready to attract new subscribers.

Suddenly after months of not knowing how to build a list I was doing it and after months of never making any money I was finally receiving those wonderful emails that alert you to a sale. Plus it was easy to start and maintain which really did fit into what I wanted from my business at the beginning.

There are plenty of easy and low cost ways to make money online without having to spend a lot of money. I will caution you not to confuse low cost or easy to start up with no work because they will always need the commitment from you to drive traffic to it and ensure you continually have people signing up.
